Facial Gua Sha is is performed with a “scraping” tool and technique is used to stimulate muscles, providing a passive form of exercise for the musculature of the face, promoting skin tightening and increasing skin tone. As well as, this technique relieves muscle tension, improves blood circulation, and encourage lymphatic drainage. It breaks up the fascia, the connective tissue that can interfere with optimal circulation.
When I perform Gua Sha massage during a facial treatment, my intention is on lymphatic drainage and muscle stimulation for added muscle tone. The lymphatic system is a crucial part of your immune system and often when congested, it will often create a bumpy texture on the surface of the skin. For problematic skin presenting with bloating, inflammation, clogged or congested skin, lymphatic drainage can be a game changer.
